Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) Typing:
Complement Dependent Cytotoxicity (CDC) cross match test:
CDC crossmatch test is done to detect alloantibodies in pre- and post- transplant patients, which helps
to dictate clinical management of patients undergoing a transplant. It provides evidence for the
presence of potentially cytotoxic alloantibodies. The crossmatch involves combining recipient (patient)
serum and donor cells. If donor specific alloantibodies are present in the serum of the patient, they will
bind donor cells forming antigen-antibody complexes which in turn will activate the complement
cascade and hence leading to complement-dependent cytotoxicity.
